LOOK FIVE
Closes the collection, draping the wearer in soft and sturdy naturally dyed denim. Modern research reveals that some strains of indigo may be used for antipyretic, anti-inflammatory, antiviral, antimicrobial, anticancer and detoxifying purposes. Traditionally dyed indigo denim is used as a representation of HIV and AIDS in this collection in an effort to provide strength to the affected.
The trench envelops the wearer and trials behind them showing their battle with AIDS ending. The jacket is adorned with a graphic similar to the chalk outline of a body at a crime scene, a reference to one of ACT UP’s displays of civil unrest. Unlike the reference to ACT UP in Look One, this graphic is contrasting and unkempt. A natural progression of the emotions surrounding the epidemic. Underneath, the relaxed pair of trousers match the top of the first look. The slouched black fabric gives a comfortable resting place for the wearer and bookends the collection.
